The Frenchmen

I posted about The Frenchmen on indie mp3 a couple of years back and if you head over to that post you will see a comment from Amy explaining the band's indefinite hiatus which has seen their presence on the net now pulled.

They were a great little jangle pop band out of the US of A who sounded very English despite their location which would also see them cover songs by The Flatmates and Tallulah Gosh.

Their 2004 album Sorry We Ruined Your Party is a minor classic and should be owned by any self respecting indie pop fan! Mind you the 7" single Powdered Blue isn't bad either and luckily both are still available.

The La's - Alright (live in Brussels)

John Power took the song which him to Cast. The La's only album has just been re-released as a deluxe edition with the "lost" Mike Hedge's produced versions making up the bulk of the bonus tracks.

About

Are You Scared To Get Happy takes it's name from the Bristol fanzine of the same name that was produced by Matt Haynes who later co-founded Sarah Records.

This little blog is just my tribute to the indie pop scene of years past and I hope you enjoy it. This blog is created in the spirit of my original indie-mp3 site which existed between 2002 - 2005 and is now a fully fledged music review site.

I endeavour to update it on a weekly basis with tracks posted by me being available for a limited period. Feel free to leave comments or contact me. If posting a track offends get in touch and I will take it down.
