The Tidy Ups

The Tidy Ups are (or were as I think they have split now) a Swedish indie pop band.

Their Wikipedia entry states that they were originally from Skellefteå, but most of the members now live in Stockholm. The band's members are Jenny Westerlund, Maria Stäck, Matilda Norberg, Olov Antonsson and Emma Andersson.

The band was started in 2002 by multi-instrumentalist Jenny Westerlund who is better known as part of the band Funday Mornings. They released their debut EP on Fabulous Friends Records in 2003; a label that had previously released Funday Mornings material. The EP, entitled "I've Been Waiting For A Million Years For The Bus To Get Me Out Of Here", contained 6 tracks and quickly sold out its limited run of 300 copies. On April 25, 2006, the Tidy Ups released a follow up EP called Dizzy Heights on Music is My Girlfriend records, another small independent Swedish label.

The tracks here are from the long out of print début 7" I've Been Waiting For A Million Years For The Bus To Get Me Out Of Here. Enjoy!

Not that we don't have the EP –we both own a copy– but I think writing about the Tidy Ups and not posting about Snow Song can be considered a criminal act. Dimitra thinks the same about Summer Will Be Really Nice. And well, then there are only two songs left, so you may as well post those two as well.

LOL! I was going to post both those two first and thought I would use the others as bait instead ;o)

I will post the rest later!

About

Are You Scared To Get Happy takes it's name from the Bristol fanzine of the same name that was produced by Matt Haynes who later co-founded Sarah Records.

This little blog is just my tribute to the indie pop scene of years past and I hope you enjoy it. This blog is created in the spirit of my original indie-mp3 site which existed between 2002 - 2005 and is now a fully fledged music review site.

I endeavour to update it on a weekly basis with tracks posted by me being available for a limited period. Feel free to leave comments or contact me. If posting a track offends get in touch and I will take it down.
