Fucked Up Covering The Shoppies

Fucked Up are a Canadian hardcore band who I know next to nothing about as it's not my sort of music. However last year the band produced two limited 7" singles of 500 covering tracks by The Shop Assistants and Dolly Mixture. It was only sold at the Hidden World Three-Day Rock and Roll Gathering - wherever that was. I got my copy at a slightly inflated price care of e-bay.

There are two versions of I Don't Wanna Be Friends With You. One has male vocals (Pinkeye) whilst the other features female ones (Manno). I have also posted the original version for comparison. I prefer the Manno vocal cover version.

If there is much demand (post in comments) I will post the covers of Looking Back and maybe the Dolly Mixture covers at some point in the future.

Hehe, that's totally mental. The girl version is very similar to the original, although not as good (a bit flat). Love love love the Shoppies.

About

Are You Scared To Get Happy takes it's name from the Bristol fanzine of the same name that was produced by Matt Haynes who later co-founded Sarah Records.

This little blog is just my tribute to the indie pop scene of years past and I hope you enjoy it. This blog is created in the spirit of my original indie-mp3 site which existed between 2002 - 2005 and is now a fully fledged music review site.

I endeavour to update it on a weekly basis with tracks posted by me being available for a limited period. Feel free to leave comments or contact me. If posting a track offends get in touch and I will take it down.
